New Leadership at WSRP – Congratulations, Caleb Heimlich

The regular quarterly meeting of the Washington State Republican Party’s state committee met in Moses Lake on Saturday, January 20.  The budget was adopted and by law housekeeping changes adopted.  The main topic of discussion was the election of a new chairman, prompted by the recent resignation of Susan Hutchison which will be effective on February 4.

Susan has done a remarkable and memorable job during her 5 years in office, leading many of us to comment that she has been the best chairman we have had for many years.

From a field of four who vied for the position, congratulations go to Caleb Heimlich.   A product of home-schooling, Caleb graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hillsdale College and attended the 2010, 2012 and 2016 state conventions.  He has served on the staff at WSRP for 7 years, and as Executive Director for 5 years under Chairman Hutchison.  He will seamlessly take over her reins, and we are lucky to have him as he could easily have obtained a position in many other states.

Grant County did a marvelous job of hosting the meeting which was complete with door prizes, sampling of agriculture products produced in its county as well as literature about the diversity of products manufactured in Grant county.  The Grant County Lincoln Day Dinner will be February 10 in Moses Lake, and I hope residents of Lincoln County will turn out for it because it is an event well worth attending.  I have attended several times and am always glad I did.

U.S. Constitution – Were You Paying Attention in School?

Maybe you don’t remember all of what you learned in school about the US Constitution. Maybe you’d like to know more. It’s always best to go straight to the source. Lincoln County Republicans have been handing out copies of the US Constitution for many years, and now we can accelerate our efforts with this link to a print it yourself US Constitution. Pass it on!

We need you – for PCO!

PCOs, or precinct committee officers, are the building block of the Republican Party. They are the grassroots organizing base for all of our activities.

PCOs are elected officials of the Republican Party; they are the Republican representative for their precinct. A precinct can be as small as the open spaces of an historical township or as large as half of an incorporated town, but precincts usually contain 20-250 registered voters.

To become a PCO, you must be voted into office during the Primary Election in even-numbered election years. The next election of PCOs will be held on August 2, 2016.

You must fill out a declaration of candidacy to run for election as a PCO. Filing week for the August 2016 Primary Election is May 16th through May 120th. In Lincoln County, this means filing on paper at the County Courthouse. There is no cost to file.

If you have any questions about how to file, feel free to contact our Chairman, Carol Paul at 509-236-2207. For the Elections Office call 509-725-4971.

“The World is Ruled by Those Who Show Up”

This quote has been used by political activists for years, first appearing in print in the 1980’s. In Washington state, it means we need to turn out even more Republicans from the Red Counties in order to turn back the liberal tide from Puget Sound.

The Lincoln County Republican Central Committee is organized to promote excellence in our government, to educate party members and the general public about local, state and national issues, and to provide a forum within Lincoln County for those constituents sharing the traditional values of our republic. In addition, the LCRCC intends to influence the government at all levels through whatever means are legally available. The primary method of influence is recognized to elect Republican candidates, and adopt and implement coordinated plans and actions to carry out the purposes set forth above.”

We are ACTIVELY recruiting Precinct Committee Officers and Precinct Captains  throughout the county. Filing week is May 16th to May 20th. Is there a precinct position calling you?
